It lives

Filed under: Misc. — Revvi @ 8:22 pm

Shalom,

I still have this blog!?! Wow. Well, my time has been removed lately and the blog has still been giving me trouble.

Well, I’m supposed/planning on taking some college classes over the summer, or maybe in the next few weeks so that I can come in here and totally re arrange this place. I like what’s here now, but I’d like to have my own design up here. I still can’t do much, but with what I can do I’ve been asked to make a web page. Simplistic, cause that’s all I can do.

Oy Vey.

Blog Trouble

Filed under: Misc. — Revvi @ 9:36 pm

OK. So I have this blog, right?? Well it’s been giving me some trouble lately. I’m really not sure why; I’m not computer genius but I know something isn’t running correctly.

I can’t delete comments, posts and my themes are giving me trouble. I don’t know how to design my own theme yet, extremely sad to say, there’s a lot I want to learn. Finding a teacher isn’t easy!

I’d really like to do graphics of a sort for my major in college but I can’t do diddly-squat yet. I can do some HTML but not much. I really need to find out why this isn’t working and I’d like to start learning how to design my own themes, programs and how to mess around with things such as, cookies, widgets, diff. buttons, just all around geeky stuff! Does anyone know of a good website/book that can help me get started?? I’m bored.

2 Movies-Both Recommended

Filed under: Misc. — Revvi @ 9:35 pm

December 14th I Am Legend aired in theaters, so myself and a couple of the guys went to see it. It’s a good movie all around. 1 Guy has to save the world. Yippee. Night Seekers/Ugly Monsters. Joy.

Ok, so the movie isn’t that bad. Will Smith did an awesome job playing the role, or maybe I’m just saying that cause I like Smith. No. He did a good job. Over all I give it 4 stars (out of a 5 star rating) Several reasons: A) It’s predictable. As you get about halfway through the movie it becomes obvious what has to happen B) They kill the dog. The dog made the movie and to take her (Samantha) away just about ruined it for me. C) The night seekers weren’t ugly enough. I know it’s not supposed to be a horror movie but still, they could have been more horrific/ugly. D) The graphics were good and the voice over really added to the movie. In my opinion there weren’t enough explosions, just one big one, but hey that’s me. Last but not least, E) The Shrek scene was rad. Go Shrek.

Well, since we don’t celebrate Christmas it’s a tradition to go see a movie on December 25th, so we went and watched National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets. Overall I give 4 stars (out of a 5 star rating) here’s why: A) The suspense of the first one, wondering if they’ll find the treasure, wasn’t the same in this one. It’s kind of obvious that they’ll find the treasure and that really takes away from a movie. B) I love the “Capturing the President” scene; that was great. Smart move by Gates (Nicholas Cage) on how he goes about doing it. C) I liked the fact that they traveled all over the place. Great view on History, and it really made it intersting. D) Are there really 3 Statue of Liberties??

I recommend seeing both of them. They are both good movies with great actors. Some other movies I recommend are Evan Almighty and Live Free, Die Hard with Bruce Willis. Oh, I’ve yet to see Ghost Rider, is that any good??

Music

Filed under: Misc. — Revvi @ 9:48 pm
Music: 1) an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color. 2) the tones or sounds employed, occurring in single line (melody) or multiple lines (harmony), and sounded or to be sounded by one or more voices or instruments, or both. 3) any sweet, pleasing, or harmonious sounds or sound.

Every day I do something that has to do with Music. Whether it’s playing, listening, writing or singing I’m part of it. Having played the Saxophone for 7-8 years music is a huge part of my life. All the time I get the question, “What kind of music do you like?” and I answer with “All kinds.” See, I’m Eclectic so I like all types of music, I might not listen to all of them but I like them.

There’s been studies done on music and how it affects people. Even without the scientific reasoning I can see that it affects people; especially in my own life. The type of music you listen to can seriously affect how you act, speak, even walk!

For example, when I listen to Country music I think country music. Trucks, girls, guitars, cheating, etc,….anything that is associated with country music. It also makes people talk differently! They can start talking with y’all in their sentences; if they already don’t! The same thing applies to hard core rock music. You think hard thoughts, don’t listen to people, walk with a firm walk, dress “rocky,” and are just all around hard. Music has a serious effect on people!!

Scientifically music effects the cells! Certain pitches, like pitches when you chant Hebrew, build the cells up making it easier for them to function. Other pitches, like Rock, tear the cells down and make it harder for them to function. Classical music is also another type of music that effects the cells; in a good way though!!

Music effects me in such a huge way. I have at least one song for each mood. For instance, when I’m feeling down and like I can’t go on it’s Mercy Me’s: I can only Imagine and Keep Singing and they help me get my spirits back up. When I’m in a party mood it’s Jump 5, Spinnin’ Around or Toby Mac, Boomin’ and It just keeps me in a great mood. Music has a drastic effect on me. When I play something sad it pulls me down, when I play something up beat it lifts me up. Music is a huge part of my life.

Another part of my life, in music, is writing. I think I struggle with it, but other people don’t. I can’t sit down and write music, but I can put on a beat and play what’s on my heart and have a song. I have a song that I don’t have a name for yet, but it’s a beautiful song; everyone loves it! I just played what was on my heart and now my music teacher thinks that it would be good on the radio. No. Writing music does not come easy to me. I can’t sit down with a Guitar and put words to a Chord Progression, but I can write Guitar chords and someone else can put words to them. I find music a challenge writing wise for me. I’m still working on it and praying that one day Abba Father will use my music for Him. Even if it’s just in the smallest way possible I want it to be used for Him and His glory. Praise Him!!

Been a while……

Filed under: Misc. — Revvi @ 9:17 pm

Wow. It’s been forever since I’ve posted. Let’s see, I last posted when James was voted off of Survivor, so 2-3 weeks ago. Now, Survivor has ended and Todd the sneaky one won the Million. I’m really not that disappointed since James (Grave Digger) got $100,00 and Denise (Lunch Lady) got $50,000; that made things better.

Well, a lot has happened since I posted last. Chanukkah has come and gone, and it wasn’t bad this year, but it wasn’t the best. Our dance team performed and did an awesome job, I’m so proud of them!! It was Chanukkah!!

The magazine article I wrote is supposed to be published!! Yippee!! They wanted to me to re-write it, then they didn’t, then they did, then they didn’t so I didn’t have to. I just went in, with some help, and made some major changes. I’m really looking forward to seeing it all put together. We have so many people working on it it’s crazy. Well, maybe not that many people but we do have a lot. I’m looking forward to seeing what Abba Father does with this.

So, I’m totally planning a New Years Eve (NYE) Party!! Well, I have it planned and people invited but not very many have sent in their RSVP yet. Part of the problem is we, the person I put it together with, sent out the invite beginning of December and most people have invites already and don’t know where to go. I know someone like that and it’s stressing her out. The party we’ve put together is going to be awesome!! There’s going to be strobe lights, and disco balls, glow in the dark stuff, etc,..There will also be tons of games such as Twister, Apples to Apples, Cops and Robbers, etc,..we are also planning on having some live music played by, us, The Band!! I’m so pumped!! It’s only 11 Days away!!

I’m still saving for my MacBook. My brother got an iPod Shuffle (New) today from someone and he’s totally pumped. I’m still hoping to get a MacBook. I’ve written 2 songs, 1 of which I’m proud of but still needs changes. Once I get the Mac I’m planning on writing some more. Of Course, with a Mac writing music is just point and click. But, I won’t be cheating I’ll play the Drum, Guitar, Sax, Trumpet and Keyboard part (once I learn how to play, fluently; the Trumpet, Drums and Keyboard) and I know people who can play the Bass. So, I’m still hoping and praying for one. In His Timing, it’s gotten me this far!!

Survivor-James is gone!!

Filed under: Misc. — Revvi @ 9:48 pm

So, I watched Survivor tonight just like I do every Thursday night. But tonight was terrible!!

They picked up from last week where they made the 7 remaining people stay at Tribal Council. There was a reward challenge, those who won flew 100+ miles in a private jet to a temple. They got to talk to the kids of the temple, watch a Kung Fu show, eat a vegetarian meal, and sleep! It was a nice reward!!

Well, Peih-Gee (Said “p” “g”) won the reward and she took Eric and Denise. They enjoyed everything and made plans and such. They got back to the Tribe and were set up for the Immunity challenge. They had to throw large Ninja stars at a board to score points. Well, James (my favorite) lost and Eric won.

EVERYONE decided to vote against James. He didn’t catch it and didn’t play the 2 hidden immunity Idols he had and He got voted out! Grrrr……..what a way to end the night.

Although, Next week will be good!!

His Fearless Servant (Magazine)

Filed under: Misc. — Revvi @ 9:56 pm

Hey everyone, hope that you had a great Thanksgiving!! We stayed home all day, again, but the day was good! The food was great, like always, and it was another T-day gone by. It was cold and rainy here and that actually made it better; well at least to me!!

So, you might be wondering about the magazine thing, at least I hope you are. I’m one of the Journalists for this magazine that is supposed to come out in March of next year; yes my article is supposed to be in it!! Anywho, It’s a magazine by youth (like myself) for youth (like you!!) We have been working for 1-2 months now and it’s coming along great!! Our articles are due at the end of this month, and then we are going to start working on the editing process and getting it out to the world! We are going to be taking donations soon and that is where you all come in. We (especially the President, Liz) believe that we have been called to get this magazine out to the believers, and non-believers of the world. Your help will be needed! Whether it’s subscription, or just a donation to help us get our first issue on the market it’s very much appreciated.

I’ll let everyone know when we are going to start taking donations and then I’ll give you the information. Please pray over us, since it’s very much needed! Pray that He leads us to where we wants us to go, and that Satan has no say what-so-ever!!

P.S. To keep up with the magazine follow along at their current webpage. His Fearless Servant Magazine Webpage.

MercyMe-all that is within me.

Filed under: Misc. — Revvi @ 9:33 pm

MercyMe came out with a new CD today! All that is within me has hit the stores. I don’t know how many it sold on it’s first day, but I do know that it sold several pre-store copies. One that I bought myself!!

I purchased the CD about a month and a half ago with a deal that I got from a newsletter. I’m a HUGE MercyMe fan! I have all most all of their CD’s (I don’t have the Christmas ones) and they are all autographed, including the new one. I hope to meet them one day as they have such a heart for the Father and they really show it in their music. I know that they have been blessed and they have blessed by their music. I can only Imagine was a HUGE Hit, and it hit so many hearts including mine. To just imagine what it will be like when we stand in His presence is, for me, close to impossible. His glory is far beyond compare, at least for the words I can find.

When I ordered their new CD they sent me a link that let’s me listen to it before any one else had the chance. So, I’ve been listening to it off and on for a while and I love the song Goodbye Ordinary some of the lyrics are “Live like there’s no tomorrow……goodbye ordinary” and I just think that’s so true! We need to live life like tomorrow isn’t coming at all, and get rid of the ordinary things in our life. I personally need to step out on a bigger limb for the Father and start living like He wants me to live. It’s a struggle at times though, or am I the only one?

Apple

Filed under: Misc. — Revvi @ 9:17 pm

So, I’ve been looking at Apple’s iPod and Macbook and I totally want one!

I had an iPod Shuffle, first generation (stick), but I misplaced it and I haven’t seen it since then. I think I left it in my grandfathers truck when we went cruising the states, but I’m really not sure. Anywho, since I lost that one I’m looking at getting an iPod Nano; probably 8GB. I have 200 or so CD’s and if you figure 11 songs a CD I’m looking at 2200+ songs, so I have to have something big enough to hold them all. I’m hoping to get a black one or a white one, depending on my mood. I can’t stand the orginal iPod’s as they are HUGE! The size alone just gives me the creeps. I guess I have this pet peeve for small things. Hhhmmm………

I’m totally looking at getting the MacBook. I want the white one, 13 inch, 2.2 GHZ, 1 GB memory, 120 GB Hard drive. That’s also the middle priced one running about $1,299.00. If I can’t get the money before I go to Isra’el (March) then I’ll probably drop down to the cheapest one and purchase it. I want the Mac so bad, they are like the best running computers. The graphics are great and I seriously want garage band. It’s also great that it comes with iTunes. My xp doesn’t support iTunes like it should, or should it? It’s been broken since we bought it, literally, and it’s never been fixed. It needs more memory, a new hard drive, graphics card and CD reader for it to be considered close to working order.

With all this talk about computers I’m still working on the blog; and will be forever. I’ve found someone that is willing to help me out in the graphics designing area, but we haven’t really gotten anywhere. I’m considering majoring in Computers but I know for a fact that I have a long way to go. If I don’t major in them it would be nice to have the knowledge so that if someone asks for help I can help. Computers are so much fun!

I was just talking to a friend and the “New Generation-Needs Fast” thing came up. I personally think that we have that mindset. Things need to be fast(er)!! We have fast-food, high-speed internet, fast(er) computers, fast(er) cars, and self check outs at the store to make things faster!! We are living in a world where things must be fast in order for us to function. I hate it when my computer runs so I mean who doesn’t! I’m saving for the Macbook because it’s faster. Do you think we are in a world where times consumes so much?? I might be just a youth, but seriously, slow down and don’t waste life away! We’re only here for a while!!

Blue Man Group

Filed under: Misc. — Revvi @ 9:40 pm

Blue Men? Huh? Are you sure you’ve got that right??

Yes, I’m sure I’ve gotten that right! I went this past weekend to see the Blue Man Group and it was an incredible concert! If you’ve never heard of them I don’t blame you, most people haven’t. They are a group made up of three men who, basically, bang on PVC Pipe with orange glowing drum sticks, spit on you with gumballs, and stick their heads in televisions while they act out their made up TV show. Yes, it’s crazy. They have such a sense of humor but they don’t talk the entire performance. It’s absolutely incredible. Your not totally clueless since they have a “remote” that they use to play a voice that talks about what’s going on during the concert. He leads you through the “Rock Concert Movement Manual” as the show goes along. He’s also good at making sure you’re paying attention. If you ever get the chance I highly recommend you go watch them. The tickets were very expensive here, $52.00 a ticket with a discount of fifteen people or more, but they are well worth it.

There was another guy that was there with them, he was there as their opening act, and his name is Mike Relm. He’s a DJ for a living and a very good one at that. He takes music and video and mixes them together. Then he “messes up” the music and the picture and just makes you laugh. One of my favorites that he did was of the video Nacho Libre while he was wrestling. Another good one was a video from Office Space. He seems to love his job and does a very good job at making people laugh. He’s also worth watching. The two of them put together makes for a really nice show.

On a side note: There is a profile that you have to fit for becoming a Blue Man and I almost fit the profile. The only thing that I lack are drum skills. Maybe one day I’ll have the drum skills and I’ll be able to at least apply. Just for the fun of it! If that’s where God wants me for a while then I wouldn’t turn it down. Never know.
